Title: Who Needs a Fundamentals Class?
Post by: JTH on February 22, 2012, 06:51:59 AM
I almost posted this in the Information forum, because I think everyone should read it (and no, I didn't write it) but since I am ending with an advertisement, I'll put it in the Training section.  :)

Grayguns's Practical Fundamentals: Who Is It For?

http://grayguns.com/graygunss-practical-fundamentals-who-is-it-for/ (http://grayguns.com/graygunss-practical-fundamentals-who-is-it-for/)

For the record, I am not Bruce Gray, nor am I affiliated with Grayguns.  And I've never been to their fundamentals class, so I don't know exactly what they teach.  I was just amused to find that they teach a class with the exact similar focus and rationale that I do, however.  (They've been teaching it longer, so I suppose technically I should say "I was amused to find that my class matches their class focus and rationale.")

I am also not surprised that they do so.  First and foremost, you have to be able to hit your target.  There are plenty of other things to study afterward, but if you don't have solid shooting fundamentals, the rest doesn't really help.

...on a related note, we have Fundamentals classes (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Fundamental201.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Fundamental201.html))  scheduled for April 14th and July 21st.  (You knew I was going to put that in there!)

Personally

Since most of us no longer live or grow up on Farms or in rural areas.

I think that one of the things Taught to kids in School should be Gun Safety.

It should be taught kinda like Sex Ed (only not as badly)

They should start teaching it in Elementary school (maybe 4 grade and up).
And offer More advanced classes on it in middle school and High School.

Would it solve all the Gun problems we have ?

No .....but i think it would help solve or stop a lot of them.

Right now most kids grow up thinking of Guns only as Toys ..we need to teach them Guns are tools and if use wrong they are deadly.

Due to the wild weather on April 14th, we had to reschedule the Fundamentals of Handgun Shooting class to May 5th---which means that if you wanted to take it, you can still do so.  We do have a slot left if anyone is interested, so let us know!

Registration page:  http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html)

(And if not that one, then there is another on July 21st.)
