Just a week from this coming Saturday! It will be on April 14th starting at 8:00 AM for sight in, match at 9:00 AM. Dust that old bolt gun off and come out for some fun. Also this year there will be a new .22 CMP match held on the same range following the VMRM. To get all of the details on these and other matches being held at Lincoln Izaak Walton check out our new web site (http://lincolnikes.com/ (http://lincolnikes.com/)). I'll see you there!
Question is, who start talking trash first? :)
-
I guess I'd better get some loading done.
And Jesse, you're going down this year!
-
Sounds like fun. Do you have to be a member to participate? What is the cost for the match? I didn't see any of that posted on the Ikes website.
-
Mikee, $10.00 for the match. I don't think there are any matches at the Ikes that require membership. Mike.

NEBull said he has some competition for me this year...course, he has to show up:)
-
Sorry, gsd, won't be this first match, daughter's Hunter Safety is same day.
But I did take it out for some excercise yesterday and VERY impressed.
-
I told my son, who lives in Lincoln, about this match & he talked me in to bringing a couple Mosins down to give it a try. 8)
Hope to meet some of you there! He wanted to know what size target is used.

Standard 100 yard military rifle target set at 75 yards. 18" diameter score area with a 6" bull and 3" ten ring. One inch X ring. If you are shooting a standard sighted Mosin with milsurp ammo try holding on the bottom of the paper centered for windage and you should be in the black. Sight in targets are provided starting at 08:00 to 09:00 to get a feel for where you are at. No sighting shots after the match starts but spotting scopes and coaching are permitted during the match. With ten minutes to shoot ten rounds you have plenty of time to spot your shots and make corrections to get the best score you can.

One of these days I'll get some dies for my Martini-Henry and we'll have a vintage black powder cartridge military rifle match. VBPCMRM.

Another trick that works well with Mosin sights that shoot too high is to get a piece of heat shrink tubing and slip it over the fron sight post, then trim it down until your elevation is correct. This lets you have a taller front sight (shoots lower) without permanent modifications.

BK, you bringing your carbine out?

It will be epic!

I might bring it but probably won't use it for the match. The short sight radius makes it harder to shoot accurately than my Enfield or M39. I need to get some Argentine dies too.
-
Well, I had almost enough .303 ammo left from last year to shoot the Enfield, and nowhere near enough for the M39, so since I didn't feel like loading a bunch this week it looks like I will be Nigel this weekend instead of Simo. I have a whole bunch of 7.62x54 brass sitting in my basement that still hasn't magically turned itself into loaded ammo.

I always knew you were bipolar!
-
We are not!

My son & I showed up at this match yesterday for the first time & had a blast! We met some like minded folks, learned a bunch & made it home safe through all of the storms. :D
We will definitely be back!!
Plus, to top it all off I found a 1915 New England Westinghouse Mosin M91 at a local pawn/gun shop. That was just plain SWEET! 8)
