I really resent the "gun culture" events that are keeping gun owners from carrying. It was a pleasant surprise at the Kearney show that there were no signs or prohibitions on carry.
I confronted door workers at Fremont today because they have multiple signs saying no loose ammo, loaded magazines or concealed carry weapons loaded. I find it very unethical for a gun event to be more restrictive than the state. The worker even had the gall to ask me "what would you think if all of these people(at the show) were carrying concealed" then went on to tell me about all the people who have been shot with concealed carry guns at shows.
If you are like me and think the shows are wrong to ban carry, please take a few minutes to let the show personal know how you feel. How can you argue for less restriction from the state if you dont trust your own like minded people with a firearm at your event?

then went on to tell me about all the people who have been shot with concealed carry guns at shows.
Did he have any proof of all these shootings?

Midwest Arms Collectors Fremont Gun Show
Did anyone notice if there was a vendor selling ammo cans today?

I refuse to go to these so called gun shows that ban the carry of weapons by lawful citizens.
-
It may be good to go and challenge the thinking, it may at least get those who hear a well reasoned defense of carry to exercise their brain. The money changers need to hear some irritation from more than just me.
-
Did he have any proof of all these shootings?
worker said he witnessed one in tennesee and knew of several more....I still say the worst he said was about his fear of the thought of all the people at the Fremont show carrying, he thought all people of reason should be swayed by that horrible word picture.

I saw no signs by the doors, but I arrived at 8am and they may have been put up after then.
The promoters are from Missouri, not sure they care what us Nebraska CCW'ers think.
They overbooked the show by 50 tables. They're not the brightest tools in the shed.
-
If the building where the gun show is held will not allow CCW, there isn't much the promoters/organizers can do about CCW at their gun show, other than move it to another venue that is CCW friendly.
-
Lorimor....it is NOT the building i.e. Christensen Field or Lancaster Event Center for Lincoln shows. BIG show in Tulsa last weekend when I was there. No signs posted. Another one in Fort Worth this weekend. I plan on going, and told no signs will be posted.
-
The responsible party at the door shivered in fear at the thought of anybody carrying in the midst of such a crowd. As we all know some times guns will draw themselves and fire indiscriminately. If you are irritated by the ethics of gun show promoters restricting carry, please take the time to tell them

Sadly Ross they are caught between a rock and a hard place. Although I do NOT agree with the sign posting I can certainly empathize with their fear to some degree. There are still a number of STUPID (Yes I said it and mean it) people who put their flippin' finger on the trigger when handling a firearm. Its like a moth to a flame. Secondly, they are totally CLUELESS of where the muzzle is pointing at any given time. Reminded again of this behavior while at Cheaper Than Dirt in McKinney TX this afternoon. I blame not only the customer(s), but the sales people ought be all over these folks for mishandling the firearm. I recall as a kid it was not uncommon to hear of a negligent discharge at the Houston Gun Shows (which were big deals in the day).
That being said, for those attending the shows concealed there would be no reason to unholster your loaded firearm unless the obvious crap hits the fan situation occurs......in short moot point e.g. CHP holders for the show sponsors.
-
Wasn't there a negligent discharge at a Lincoln show recently? I hate to say it, but a few idiots can ruin things for the rest of us.
-
If that is the concern then put a sign up saying that concealed carry firearms must remain concealed...I think most of the ND that have happened at gun shows have been from displayed "unloaded" guns. You cant protect stupid from stupid.
