This was nothing about personal protection and all about retaliation for his previous break-ins.  This guy makes me sick...

Let him rot in jail. That is like the story of a pharmacist who shot 1 of 2 burglars then proceeded to execute the injured one on the floor while he was gasping for help.

This was my first thought.

The first shots may have been legit, anything after that was uncalled for, and I think a jury will see it the same way.

This was how I was feeling when I read the story, I also agree that it could be used to make all gun owners look bad.
I am curious to see what defense he takes up, probably that he was scared, and didn't know how many more were coming for him...
