I remember during the first Obama election how scarce ammo got, the and corresponding price increases that stuck.
I was not into reloading back then so can someone tell me what happened with reloading components? I reload .223, .45, 9mm and 300 win mag. Did prices go up a lot, did some stuff get scarce and other abundant?
What components should have the highest priority to stock on, based on what happened last time?
I tend to buy lots of primers, powder second, then bullets.
For .223 I am sitting on 1K in bullets in powder but have 7K primers lol! I think I only own 500 brass though.
What about high power stuff, any effect on that?
Any information is appreciated.

And the price almost doubled..... and stayed there. Still is.

As soon as my latest order shows up I'll have somewhere in the neighborhood of 15,000 primers so hopefully I can ride this one out.

Cool I have been correct in buying primers.
What happened to powder and bullets? Did those prices skyrocket? Were they hard to find?

It seems odd primers are hard to find, I've noticed that the past year, thats why I tend to buy them more. You get 1000 of them..

Bullets went up, but not to the extent that primers did...... loaded ammo went up, but it was already high ..... when I first started shooting pistols (late 90's), $10/box of 50 of .45ACP 230gr fmj was a good sale price..... what is it now? Double that?
I started reloading .45ACP with Ranier Ballistics plated 230gr bullets .... reloads cost me about 9 or 10 cents each... I can't do that with 9mm now, even if I bought everything in bulk.

Locally it seems like everything is still readily available with the exception of small pistol primers, but they are always tough to find. Looks like people are just buying every magazine and tacticool rifle in sight. After x-mas I plan on doing an order with my roommate for a ton of primers and probably bullets.

Was at Cabela's in Kearney yesterday. They had primers for around $35/1000, that's $10 more than I have been paying for it. They are running low on powder, they had no 3031, had to settle for 748. They had what I thought was plenty of ammo, and the prices were not that much higher than usual. The gun cabinets had empty holes in it and the only AR type rifles I saw were 22LR.
bkoenig, I know you meant to say 10,000 primers. I believe that is the legal limit. Could be wrong, can't find the regs any more.

There is a legal limit on how many primers a person can have? ???

I have found that they have now changed the amount from 10,000 to 100,000 that can be stored in a residence. I did,nt know about that until now.
