Title: Why haven't you contacted Congress?
Post by: bkoenig on December 23, 2012, 01:23:38 PM
If you've already called, emailed, or written your Senators and Representatives, THANK YOU.  Letting them know you oppose any new firearm restrictions is the single most important thing you can do right now.

If you haven't, Why Not?  You need to contact them, and contact them TODAY.  It takes all of 10 minutes.  Surely your freedom is worth that.

Senator Elect Deb Fischer: http://debfischer2012.com/contact/ (http://debfischer2012.com/contact/)

When I click on the Deb Fisher one it says 'fatal error.'   That sounds ominous...
Otherwise I've contacted my federal and state reps.

I sent out some e-mails to congressman and senators days ago.  I didn't see Deb Fischer in the list though.  Thanks for the link.  E-mail now sent to her as well.

Also add SotH John Boehner, http://www.speaker.gov/contact (http://www.speaker.gov/contact)

And I know it is very very very very very very very very very very very very very very futile, but it I don't see how it would hurt:

Obama:

Biden:

Also, make sure the NRA knows that compromise will not be tolerated:

Well I just finally got around to contacting them. Kept it pretty short and simple but backed up my reasons for supporting the 2nd Amendment.

I got a canned response from Nelson back saying he appreciated me contacting him and letting him know my opinions.  You can tell it is a very generic response that is most likely an auto reply.

I can't find it now, but I read a Xmas eve Norfolk paper article summarizing national level reps statements about new gun control.

The most favorable comment was "...remains skeptical that new legislation... could do anything to prevent..." from Nelson.

Everybody else was "will not support" and I think it was ol Fort saying "will oppose"

If a NE rep wants to keep their phoney baloney job, they would do well not to support such infringements on constitutional rights..

Short and simple is the way to do it.  When a congressional or legislative aide is going through emails, letters, etc they don't really take time to read them.  They only care about two things:

1.  Do you reside in the district their boss represents (in other words, are you a potential voter).
2.  Are you for or against the issue.

If the answer to #1 is no, your opinion on #2 doesn't mean much.  For #2, they just tick "for" or "against" for each piece of correspondence received, and give their boss the total.

I've contacted my reps twice now.  Registration will be followed by confiscation.  Opposing this proposal needs to be the top priority of every gun owner in the US.  Feinstein is a tool.

come on, there has to be A LOT more people contacting their reps right?  (i sure hope so.)

NOW is the time to contact them, not later.  its time for all of us to step up and show the gov't who's boss.  no more sitting on the sidelines.  act now or loose your rights.  period.

I had contacted Terry over a week ago- haven't heard back yet.

Used these links to email Johanns & Fischer today. I intend to contact them again once the legislation is pending.

Thanks for the links.

Ok, thanks to everyone for contacting Congress.  Now do it again!  Keep hitting them.  Burn up those inboxes.

I'm home sick today so I have nothing better to do than surf the internet.  I found this tool and posted it elsewhere, but I think it deserves cross posting.  http://nebraskafirearms.org/forum/index.php/topic,6924.0.html (http://nebraskafirearms.org/forum/index.php/topic,6924.0.html)

I renewed my NRA membership last night (5 months early).  They can use all the help they can get.

That membership money can't be used for lobbying. You need to doante to the NRA-ILA to help them out right now. Our good friends at the SAF and CCRKBA would also be a great place to donate to right now.
