Ok I know this has been brought up in various forms in the past, but I was having trouble finding what I wanted in all the searches that come up. The question is if I purchase a handgun in Omaha do I have to register it when I buy it. I am a CCW holder and live in Lincoln. The reason for asking is I am looking for a Glock 19 or 17 which is like trying to find a needle in a haystack right now. So if I find someone who has one in stock I am going to have to go and buy it.
Thanks

With a valid CHP you are not required to have a concealable firearm registered

Thanks Dan, That is what I was thinking, but there is still a lot of confusion out there on this.
One of these days I need to stop by and introduce my self. My wife works across the street from your shop at 3E.
Thanks

I'll also add that even if you do not have a CCW, but live outside of the Omaha City limits you don't have to register it when you purchase it. I live just outside city limits and purchased a handgun from Guns Unlimited just a few weeks ago and they just looked up my address to verify and sent me on your merry way.

Uh... be careful. From what I understand, if you possess a concealable firearm, within the city limits, you must have it registered with OPD. The only time this doesn't apply to you is if you have a CHP. It's not where you live, it's the fact that you are within the city limits.
Take care.

Yup, that's correct. The law is so stupid because technically you couldn't legally transport a handgun down to OPD to even get it registered without breaking the law if you buy it outside of of city limits.

Thanks guys, this is why I asked their regs are so confusing. Wish the State would make them get in line with State laws
