So there was another school shooting yesterday. I don't have cable so I didn't see it "in the news." In fact, it is because the media is so biased that I don't have cable, but I digress. Anyway, so my wife just shouted out "That's why it wasn't on the news!"
With the current anti-gun frenzy, it seems that it would be wall to wall media coverage with another gun gone bad. Well, turns out that the shooter was stopped by an armed guard. Oops. That doesn't fit the script. That doesn't further the agenda so lets just not talk about it. Oh sure, we will touch on it, but lets go back to the crazy gun owner in Alabama down in the bunker. He is probably a NRA, Tea Party, Veteran, conservative. Now that is newsworthy.
Disclaimer* The following is a diatribe commentary about the ills of our society and really deviates from the topic of this forum Feel free to stop reading here*
Cancel your cable and free your mind. That is not tin foil hat. If you watch the main stream media, you are getting told what to think and most people can not, or don't want to, think for themselves. Now, if your on this forum, this probably doesn't apply to you as you obviously reject at least a one plank of the platform, that guns are bad. If advertising companies have learned that a 20 second commercial can make someone drink pepsi, what does a couple of generations worth of propaganda every evening when you watch the "news" do? I know, it is easier to just sit down at the end of the day and watch whatever they spoon feed you without exerting the mental energy required to form your own opinions. Seriously. It can be tiring to do your own research and think for yourself. It is also very time consuming and after working to pay for our govt overreach, who isn't tired? The agenda is not limited to news either. Maybe I read too much into things but I see progressive agenda in other shows, subtly tucked in there as background noise and after a while you start to see the logic behind what is in the news while you enjoy your pepsi and agree that women are superior to spineless men who are really all bafoons and divorce is really okay, and who want to be punished with a baby when abortion is so much better and on and on it goes. Think this is not happening to you? What about any kids in your house? Match the subtle television messages with the garbage taught in most public schools and reality has just shifted.
Okay, I am ranting. I guess I better check the date on my big pharma meds and drink my pepsi. (Joking!)

But if one is without any source of new except local broadcast you still would receive the same left agenda. I watch cspan and those types to decide how I should go, however I do believe there is strength in numbers, so I am here and choose those like minded to strengthen me in my day to day challenges and talk non confrontational to my clients through out my day of work

I agree that it is more difficult to get your news, but it can be done. The internet is the last bastion of true journalism, in my opinion. Local news, The Urinal Star notwithstanding, are typically less controlled than national 24 hour newscasts. Check out Drudge. Check out the gun wire. Canada Free Press. World Net Daily. CNS news. Blacklisted News (a little fringe at times). The Blaze.
There are plenty of news sources to choose from. The worst? NBC in any form or fashion. Followed closely by CBS and ABC in no particular order. Then CNN and then FOX. Yes fox. In some ways I consider Fox the worst since it parades itself as a conservative organization, but really, it is not so much. People don't see it and for many years I did not, and would have scoffed at the very words which I now write. I would gladly get into my complaints with this news source, but alas, I must go. Another time, perhaps

The anti-gun political media is dividing our country at a time when it is least needed....it takes the focus off everything else they have done...NOTHING BUT FAIL !!!!

In the early 1980s part of my business involved installing commercial and private satellite dishes. One day I was in the middle of fine tuning a dish, using the ABC live news feed on Westar B. Back then they didn't encrypt that channel because it never occurred to them that others could listen to the live news feed as well as they and their affiliates. Anyway, while I was adjusting the dish I heard "Hail to the Chief". I took a look at the monitor and saw Pres. Reagan walking onto the stage at the NOW convention in New Orleans. He received a standing ovation for at least 10, perhaps 15 minutes. The duration of the applause amazed me because of the way ABC and the other media had been reporting NOW's political stance. He spoke for about 15-20 minutes and during that time, as his custom was, he dropped in about a dozen jokes to illustrate his points. All but one received good laughs from the crowd. He finished his speech and left to another standing ovation which lasted 5 to 10 minutes. After the event Reynolds and Robbins, the talking heads, began discussing how to report this event. Watching them discussing the ways they could slant the story against Raegan and for the radical head of NOW, Elenor Shmeal, was an eye opener. They began the nation wide news cast with the opening lead; "Raegan received a mixed reception at NOW", and played 20 seconds where he told a joke and no one laughed. They left the impression that Raegan was almost run off the stage. Then they followed with a 75 seconds of Schmeal claiming that "Raegan would grab women by the hair and drag them back into the stone age.
Fifteen years earlier, in my college civics class I was required to give reports each week on news articles in at least 5 national news sources. We were taught how the press was made up of ordinary men and women who understood and appreciated our Constitution and Republican form of government. I swallowed it hook line and sinker. Would my professors lie?
After that I began watching the live news feeds instead of the news itself. I lost count of the number of times the anchors twisted the event to match what I soon learned was their "One World Government", Socialist agenda. Many people began writing in complaining that they SAW the events reported on with their own eyes and what they say was in no way related to what was broadcast. The media's response was to encrypt the news feeds. For a while people got a hold of chips which decrypted the news feeds but the media got legislation to outlaw the sale of such chips.
A few years later I encountered another example. While watching a Pro-Life March on Washington on CSPAN the park ranger estimated the crowed in the Washington mall at over one million, nearly twice the size of the pro-abortion crowd a month before. Later, CNN reported that about 80,000 attended the pro-life march. I called CNN and asked to speak to the producer, Ed Turner (no relation as far as I know). Amazingly, they connected me to him. I told him that CSPAN video showed the park ranger riding in a helicopter above the crowd, estimated the crowed at one million -- how could he say it was only 80,000. Anyone with eyes can see it on CSPAN and would know that the crowd was well beyond 80,000. His response was the his reporter reported the crowd size at 8 AM. My reply was "How would that be meaningful or accurate since the march didn't start till 1 PM?" His reply, "We report what we see" and hung up.
He KNEW he was lying. I've never watched CNN since then. I don't watch the news ABC, CBS or NBC, either. They aren't broadcasting the news, they are spreading propaganda with an agenda. While he was a talking head Walter Cronkite had another agenda. He kept it somewhat secret while he was a "news" caster but after he retired he accepted an award from a "One World Government" organization:
ASI presents: Hillary, Walter Cronkite and World Government (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95Jfa95PLSI#)
Google the group and its various spin-offs. You'll learn what trouble our Republic is in when such treason propagates the "news". Freedom of speech is one thing, but advocating the overthrow of our democracy is entirely different.
