Two Days Less Than a Month:
Sent in January 25; Received back approved on February 23.
A Big However:
The renewal doesn't start where my old one ends: April 26, 2013 Instead, the 3-year renewal starts on February 20. I lost two months in the process.
I sent the renewal in three months early to prevent expiration. So it gets renewed OK by the NSP in one month....but the renewal doesn't start at the expiration of the old certification; it starts two months earlier.
Oh, Well-----Go worry about Something Else. Be happy I don't live in Illinois.

Hope they don't pull that on the CCW permits. Haven't had to renew mine yet.

It would be interesting to ask if that was a clerical error...or their interpretation of things.

Where there is no such thing as a victimless crime!

It's not a clerical error. They've done that on both my renewals
