President and CEO Dennis Veilleux said the pro-gun control climate that has taken hold in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre and other firearm attacks has left him feeling unwelcome in the state his company has called home for 175 years. Proposed laws being debated by the Legislature and pushed by Gov. Dannel Malloy include a new gun offender registry, an expanded assault weapons ban, ammunition restrictions and a ban on bulk purchases of handguns. Veilleux said those measures have put Colt and its nearly 700 employees in the crosshairs.
“At some point, if you can’t sell your products … then you can’t run your business," Veilleux told FoxNews.com. "You need customers to buy your products to stay in business.

Magpul Chief Operating Officer Doug Smith said the moving process has begun following the signing of a bill by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper that bans the sale of gun magazines with more than 15 rounds. A new location has yet to be determined.
“Our moving efforts are under way,” Smith told the Denver Post. “Within the next 30 days we will manufacture our first magazine outside the state of Colorado.”

Too bad about all those jobs leaving those states.

It is. Maybe Magpul and Colt will help their workers, who want to or can, to move with them so they can keep their jobs in these difficult times.

lets bring them to NE.

I would like to see some real numbers or statistics on the economic impact of this legislation in Colorado.
For example:
Revenue loss, job loss, and any other general economic impact that is negative.
I do not have my PhD in economics- but- I would like to see commentary from a few folks that have one.
I wonder if anyone would say that it has some type of positive impact....

I will say it is DEFINITELY going to have a positive impact...on the state that Magpul is moving to. ;D

 ;D
Agreed!

It's just too bad that there are several states that are More Gun friendly then Nebraska.
and as long as EC or someone like him is in the unicameral it won't happen. :'(
-
Nebraska is not Tax friendly to new business
-
Hmmm, maybe Nebraska is in the running with Magpul!

HIGHLY unlikely. As Dan W stated, Nebraska tax code is not enticing enough to lure in much industry. Also, we are pretty good regarding 2A rights, but there ARE much better.

No multi million dollar business in the gun trade would look twice at our state with Chambers running the show. Never happen.

Well at least we are on the short list. Plus a community can offset quite a bit with other enticements. So though it may not happen, I would say we still could get them here. I`d rather try, and do all I can to make it so, than to make a comment that does nothing to inspire people to try.

I would love to try too, but the types of enticements that such a corporation would be looking at are made by the government in the form of favorable tax code, 2A laws, etc. Also, these are not changes that can be made in the time frame that Magpul is planing on making a decision. So I don't foresee you, I or the entire NFOA membership having any influence on Magpul's decision.
Maybe I'm just being negative or don't understand what could be done quickly to entice Magpul. If anyone has a plan, let me know.

ETA: I do know of one way to help make our state more favorable to gun companies. Go HERE (http://nebraskafirearms.org/forum/index.php/topic,7687.0.html) to help out.
