The number for Jan-Feb 2013 should be 4,781,529 (a 53.7% increase)
The ten highest weeks for background checks between Nov 30, 1998 and March 30, 2013 are ALL between 21/03/2012 and 2/25/2013.
That explains where a lot of the ammo that the DHS isn't buying is going. Guns, parts and reloading supplies too.
