Title: Got a new toy today
Post by: abbafandr on August 05, 2013, 08:35:12 PM
I was at Guns Unlimited this afternoon and they some Ruger SR 22 pistols in stock.  Long story short, I decided to adopt one and give it a good home ;D
They also had a stash of CCI mini mags in stock. :o

Great little pistol.  My wife loves hers (and I like taking it out too)  :D

I was tempted to get one of those shortly after they came out, but I resisted the temptation so I could save money for reloading equipment.

Hope to see you shooting it out at one of the Steel Challenge matches at ENGC.

Need to find a few more magazines for it first.

Thanks for the tip on the CCI Minimags.   Price was about $10.00 per 100 as opposed to $7.50 a year ago.  Not complaining though.

Love the SR22.  Had a few FTF's when I was first breaking it in, but now it'll eat whatever I feed it. :)

Had to send it back to Ruger :'(  Spent cartridges stuck in the chamber and had to removed with a rod :'(
Hopefully the fine folks there will make it right. :blank:

Hmmm.... what ammo were you using?   How many rounds till this started happening?

I'm sure Ruger will make it right.

Remington golden bullet and some Winchester bulk.  It started on the first magazine and did it on almost magazine I loaded :'(

You would need better experience than what I can offer, but on my 22/45, I had some feed issues when new. What I did was open up the front of the feed lips on the mags just a skosh. Idy bidy tiny bit. Helped mine, but I would still seek further advice about that.

Got it back and the fine folks at Ruger said it worked fine after they did their thing.  Looks like a trip to the range is order this weekend  ;D

A friend of mine picked up a SR22 when they first came out.  Fun little range toy.  He told me he had a ton of FTF's when it was brand new.  After a brick or so it shoots great.  Side by side with my Walther P22, I'd say the Ruger is more accurate.

I'm pretty sure Scheels in Sioux City had SR22 magazines in stock last time I stopped by.  Don't remember how much they were going for, but I remember thinking they were pretty pricey.  Hope Ruger got your rig up and running well!  Seems like a great little plinker/trainer.

Took the little Ruger out the range today and the wife and I put several magazines through it and it worked good.  A couple minor glitches which  didn't cause any problems.  Pretty accurate little sucker, although I think my S & W 22A is definitely more accurate.  Wife and I are quite happy with and look forward to sending a few thousand more rounds down the range with it. ;D
