Precision Response Training will be holding a CCW Lifestyle class on September 7th.
Register for the class: http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html)
Are you interested in concealed carry? What do you carry? How do you carry it? How many holsters have you tried? Do you know if your carry mode is the best for you? Or is it just the one that someone once recommended? Or just the first you tried?
Do you know the use of force laws, and have you ever actually made decisions about use of force under pressure? Have you participated in scenario training regarding your concealed carry?
What is your actual draw speed? How much distance from an assailant do you need to make effective use of your CCW?
Carrying a concealed firearm is a lifestyle choice---you don't simply get the permit, grab a gun and holster, and wear it around. (Well, some people do, actually---and then over time, stop carrying because it isn't comfortable.) If you are going to carry an effective weapon for self-defense on a daily basis, you WILL need to adjust your lifestyle.
Do you know how?
The CCW Lifestyle class contains the information and practice you need.
See the class description at http://precisionresponse.4t.com/CCW101.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/CCW101.html) for details, then go to http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html) to register for the class.
Note: This is NOT the state-mandated CCW course required to obtain a permit. This class actually helps you figure out how to carry a concealed weapon, how to use it effectively, and gives you practice on when to do it. The state CCW class just teaches you what the law says, and gives you an overview of a number of other informational points.. This isn't a criticism of the state class, or those who teach it---the state CCW class is not supposed to be a technique class.
If you are interested in carrying----this will help you prepare. If you already carry, this will teach you things you NEED to know about concealed carry. You'll learn about how to carry, when to use your carry gun, appropriate techniques and training for CCW, and participate in scenario training to learn about CCW under stress.
September 7th, 8:30am to approximately 4:30pm. (We'll break for lunch in the middle.) $85.

Ever done any scenario training? Ever tried to react realistically under stress? Stress not from a timer, but from interaction with others?
If not---you really should. I don't know anyone (literally: anyone) who hasn't gained significant understanding (and shown significant improvement) in their useful defensive responses after even low-level scenario training.
If you already know use-of-force laws, have good gun-handling skills, and already use a comfortable, every-day carry mode, but haven't done any scenario training, you should take this class. It isn't costly, it'll give you some good info about the applications of use of force laws, it'll work you on some drills to improve your technique---and it actually forces you to make decisions under stress.
(No, we aren't going to beat you with baseball bats.)
Learn to be more effective. Sign up here: http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html (http://precisionresponse.4t.com/Schedule.html)

Hey, we didn't shoot you in this one!

You sure? I think we did... I think you did!
Great class-- it is a great way to try out a bunch of holsters without buying bucket of holsters yourself that you don't like/need/use.

I didn't shoot him with an AirSoft gun---I shot him with a gun that went "click".
No welts! It doesn't count!

Did you have a "Flashbang" holster there, cause I really want to try one of those.

I'm thinking.....it probably isn't going to fit your body type very well.
Just sayin'....

How many people out there have as their entire training resume "NE State CCW class"?
Do you think that prepares you?
Here's another way of thinking about it:
If you took a STOP class, would that prepare you to drive every day in rush-hour traffic?
If you took a Hunter Safety course, would that prepare you to hunt mountain goats in Colorado?
(Um. Can you hunt mountain goats in CO? That may be a bad example, because I don't know. But I'm pretty sure the Hunter Safety class wouldn't be enough if it was.)
...hopefully you get the idea, because I'm out of examples.
An informational class and a qualification test that 9-year-olds can pass, is NOT sufficient preparation for self-defense with respect to CCW. Now, most of you will never need your firearm, so you can rest secure in your skills since you'll never have to test them.
But for those who actually wish to be prepared---to learn useful skills, to practice useful skills, and to test useful skills under pressure, take the CCW Lifestyle class.
