Title: So this Sunday's match has classifier?
Post by: camus on August 28, 2013, 08:20:42 PM
And it has some prone shooting?

I thought those were only on even months, or do I need to put down the hootch?

Yep.  Make sure you can draw and drop to prone, draw and drop to a knee, shoot SHO, and shoot WHO----and all of those SAFELY.

Should be an interesting classifier.  You get to do everything EXCEPT shoot like a normal person.

I may be GTG then. :)

Really I am looking forward to it, I have been matchless since May.

The July sectional had a funky classifier, prone and kneeling to shoot through ports.  Different.

Make sure you let the registration person know your number!

Too bad you will have to be using that rusty trigger.

Just curious, even though I won't be able to shoot this weekend, is there a definition of "prone"?  I looked in the USPSA rulebook and could not find any definition.  I have a hard time laying flat on my chest and getting a good sight picture at targets.  It must be related to my incredibly svelte body.  Regardless, would laying more on your side be acceptable?

The stage describes that one or both knees must touch the ground to be considered "kneeling", but nothing about "prone".

Anybody else have a suggestion on how to shoot it?

As a comment from an RO, "prone" is normally considered "on the ground, not sitting nor on your knees or feet" along with "stomach basically downward" though I have seen people leaning more on their sides, particularly if their magazines are in the way.  (Which is amusing to the Production guys, particularly because you can't change the position of your equipment setup once the match starts---so the Limited and Open guys can't move a mag pouch out of the way just for that stage, then put it back later.)

It isn't defined specifically, therefore the "common definition" rules are used.  Variations on "lying flat stomach down" are accepted.

I'd suggest demonstrating to the RO what you plan to do, to get their commentary on it prior to actually starting the stage.

Results are up from the match today!

If you weren't there, you missed out---the weather was great, the stages were deviously difficult, and we got to shoot a lot.  (Multigun in two weeks, so come out for that one to make up for it!)

I had a lot of fun, despite some ammo problems causing a few malfunctions.  Now I just need to hit a few more classifiers....

Bre had lots of fun too, even though she is getting sick.

I think next time her friend will have to stay home though...

I shot ok.  Had a few issues though, but I did ok.

Anyone get any good pictures or video they want to share?

If you are on Facebook, go "Like" the Eastern Nebraska Practical Shooters page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Eastern-Nebraska-Practical-Shooters-ENPS/157092726011) there, and add any videos or pictures you've got!

(Share them here, too, of course!)

Those were some challenging stages yesterday, had a great time.

I think I set a personal record for slide-lock reloads at a match as well.  :-[
