I'm not too excited about what he had to say.  More gun control, just implemented by the NRA.  He wants the NRA to come up with a "short list" of guns that can be kept at home.

Richard Dreyfus is an "Alpha Hotel".  I don't mean that just because of his comments on the video.  I mean that because I have been told (by people that have dealt with him directly) that he is a Richard Cranium.  The word gets around the pilot groups who the cool celebs are and who the turds are.  He falls on the other side of the fence with the other pies.

Richard Dreyfus has his imperfections I'm sure, but it takes some courage for someone in his business to stand up and speak out publically for freedom, especially the right to bear arms.  An actor saying anything positive about gun rights is like someone at a Klan rally saying something good about Martin Luther King.  The intense hatred of anti-gun bigots has no limit; excommunication and public ridicule are only a few of the weapons they use to punish those who express forbidden thought.  So Dreyfus appears to be worthy of at least some respect.

I have a short list; here it is: any and all weapons that fire a projectile, up to and including .50 caliber, and bigger in certain cases, such as shotgun slugs and black powder weapons.  Full auto capability is limited to 3 round burst, and anyone possessing a weapon that goes over that shall receive a citation with a maximum fine of $20.

Good list, but why such a steep fine?

What I took from his comments was not favorable to 2A rights.  The majority of what he said was calling for gun control.  Albeit, gun control implemented by the NRA.  In my opinion, he's no different than any of the other Hollywood pukes who call for government mandated gun control.

I just fail to see how Dreyfus' opinion carries any more weight than say... Ted Nugent's or R. Lee Ermey's or any of NFOA's members.  Dreyfus' statements smack of more "common :-X sense" measures we've heard before. The difference being that he wants the NRA in charge of it so when liberal ideas are not implemented by Lapierre & Co., libs can blame the next psycho with a gun on the NRA's "failures" .::)

OK I just took another, closer look at the video.  I still say Dreyfus is worthy of some respect for standing up to the anti-gun bigot Morgan and defending the NRA.  But there are some serious flaws in his statement, which I attribute to ignorance, and maybe a desire to not disagree too strongly with his host.

He says the 2nd Amendment is ambiguous, which it most certainly is not.  Most patriots though agree that there is such a thing as reasonable restrictions on a Constitutional right, and those who argue that there should be no restrictions on Amendment 2 usually do so because anti-gun bigots poisoned the well, using the concept to outlaw as many arms as they can.  Dreyfus' comment makes the point that a group like the NRA is best suited to determine where the line should be drawn, because they are the experts.  He didn't state it very well and didn't stand up to the bigoted host like any of us would have liked him to, but he's an actor, not a writer, so what can we expect?

Here's my list:

If the .gov (on any level- Fed/State/Local) has it, then I can have it.

The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.
