Doubletree Downtown Omaha - Friendly/Unfriendly?
« on: December 06, 2013, 08:34:37 AM »
I have to attend an upcoming banquet at the Doubletree in downtown Omaha...does anyone know if their entrances are posted or not?  The last time I was there was in my pre-carry days and I wasn't on the lookout for unfriendly places.  A search of the forum didn't return any results for Doubletree.

Thanks!

Call them and ask. I stayed at the Courtyard at La Vista , all it took was a phone call. FYI gun friendly.

Thanks, bullit.  I am most inclined to carry unless I have seen that a place is conspicuously posted or is a federal/state-restricted area.

I'm curious to get several of your opinions on calling places ... to me it seems like it could bring that topic to the forefront of inter-office discussions and unintentionally lead to unfriendly decisions depending on the situation and people.  It also seems to imply that I am subconsciously insecure in the 2nd amendment and need validation or that I'm making noise on an issue that shouldn't be an issue.  You know, like a kid asking a parent if they can do something they are already allowed to do, and then the parent gets annoyed by the asking and disallows it.  I guess I'm just more of a quietly-responsible personality, and while I consider carrying extremely important, I don't prefer to intentionally draw attention to the topic.

Just curious for some discussion.

Please don't call the place and ask them......... Brings up an issue that they likely hadn't thought needed attention.

I was at DoubleTree Downtown about 5-6 months ago..... No signs in sight

+100

Asking them is like saying hey you should probably put up signs cuz I will have a gun and that probably scares you...

Would you walk up to a random person on the street and say, hey I have a gun on me, is that ok with you?

No sign, then don't ask.

Exactly my thoughts.

By the way, I did not see any signs at the main entrances or the tunnel entrances from the parking garage.
