Note: This commentary isn't a diatribe against Aldo or anyone else at our local IDPA matches. Like I said, I appreciate that Aldo checked with higher up, and is attempting to run matches so that people will be ready for how level 2 and 3 matches are run.
I wanted to reiterate this part, particularly because lots of matches in OTHER places play by their local, good-ol-boy, hey-we-do-it-our way rules, such that when people in those clubs go to larger matches they get penalized or DQed because they
don't know how matches really are supposed to run. Aldo and Co. are trying very hard to make IDPA Nebraska the
right kind of club, in which people do things correctly, by the rulebook, and that is very much appreciated.
I just do NOT understand what the AC is thinking. Seriously, it makes no sense to me, because that opinion ("no polos or closed-front shirts") certainly isn't supported by any rule I've ever seen, and it pretty much
completely goes against the intent of the sport. (Which is a phrase we can use in IDPA. In USPSA, using the work "intent" gets you into trouble.
)
I am shooting in the KS state match in October.
When is that? I wonder if I have that day off.....and if they are still allowing entries.... (Um.
Where is it?)
AT THIS TIME, I am planning on simply having my everyday polo shirt (weather permitting) covering my gun. I will be interested to see how they are going to handle for this match .... along with support/justification if they disallow. Of course for these higher tiered matches these CoFs must be signed off by HQ. If they intend to have the "you must use a vest/open button shirt, etc" I may pay the $100 challenge fee to HQ to review....
I will be HIGHLY INTERESTED to hear what happens.
