Back in January of 1975, in Central City, a meat packer was closing up his business and at the moment he was closing his back door they surmise that he threw a cigarette down and it set off a propane leak that had filled up the basement of his businesses. This happened in mid-January and the evening and nighttime temps were below zero. The resulting explosion and fire destroyed his building and the rest of the entire block in center of town. The frame of the building lifted off of its foundation, he was drawn partially into it, and the building trapped him across the waist. He lower half was burned completely off. The firetrucks were hampered by frozen water everywhere, and frozen fire hydrants. I lost 200 lbs of Deer meat which I had stored in one of his lockers.
