Congressman Fortenberry Anounces Resignation

After being convicted in a California court of receiving illegal campaign contributions 
Nebraska Congressman Jeff Fortenberry sent out an email on March 26 stating that
he would be resigning his office soon.

Anyone know the process for choosing his replacement? I heard on the radio that it is
too late to remove his name from the primary ballet.

A special election will be called for the 1st congressional district (not sure of the time frame,I heard within 90 days).  Candidates will file for the office and be elected to the position until a new congressman is elected in November.  they will then be replaced by that elected person.  If the same person wins both no changeover problems.  If they are different?

Thanks sidearm1. I know Patty Pansing-B**** is running on the D ticket for that 1st District seat.
I'm sure she will be well financed by out of State donors!

Had a feeling he was going to have to do that.  I am not a fan, and he got himself into this mess all by himself, but I wish him well.  He was adequate.
