http://www.wowt.com/home/headlines/92484029.html?storySection=storyA 30-year-old Omaha man was critically injured in what appears to be a random shooting early Friday morning. Police say someone approached him outside his home at 168th Ave. and Pine asking for help with car trouble, then fired several shots.
The victim was rushed to Creighton Medical Center in critical condition shortly after midnight. His father, who also lives in the house, was treated at the scene for injuries caused by broken glass.
Police say the suspect was last seen driving North on 168th Street in a light-colored Honda.
At this point, there's nothing to indicate the victims knew the suspect. Police say the 30-year-old was outside having a cigarette when the suspect asked for help with his vehicle and a glass of water.
The victim's father became suspicious and wanted the man to leave. At that point the suspect opened fire and took off. The father got his rifle from inside the house and fired as the suspect ran away.
It's not clear if the suspect was hit. He was last seen driving North on 168th St. in a white or silver Honda Civic.
