The Black Gun Americas Own The AR
« on: November 28, 2008, 12:16:46 AM »
Join in people. I am a new AR-15 owner and have much to learn. There are so many accessories and options for a AR it is stifling. As well as for the custom builder. My AR-15 is a Bushmaster with a rare 18" match barrel, full float M-4 or flat top receiver. I was told last week that Bushy never made a 18" barrel from a exhibitor at Fremont's show. Hope he is at Millard because I have the email from Bushmaster showing that they did indeed. Only a few hundred for a distributor.

You can believe about 10% of what you hear at a gun show, especially if it comes from a dealer.  Most are just not well informed.  I'd suggest that you jump over to www.AR15.com if you haven't already.  Tons of great info and great people there, and be sure to check in on the Nebraska hometown forum.
I'm Rick_NE over there.

I think he was referring to this country..... as opposed to Socialist Amerika.
The Right to Keep and BEAR Arms is enshrined explicitly in both our State and Federal Constitutions, yet most of us are afraid to actually excercise that Right, for very good reason: there is a good chance of being arrested........ and  THAT is a damned shame.  III.

I read ar15.com but dont have an account.  Please lets keep this on topic, and tell people about your black magic AR!

Mine is a S&W full lower w/6pos sliding stock, mated to a J&T parted together 16" flat top upper.  I want to get a free float system for it but i'm too poor at the moment to sink any money into it.  I can't even afford ammo to shoot it! *sigh* someday...

Very nice!

Right now I have a Bushmaster Gas Piston XM15. I just ordered a Daniel Defense Omega free float rail. Other stuff on it is an EOTech 552 on a GG&G quick disconnect mount, GG&G flip-up BUIS, YHM flip-up front sight, GG&G VFG, CAA pistol grip, Surefire 6P with LED drop-in and GG&G ring mount. I'll post some pics once I get the new rail installed. :D

Well the great thing about the DD Omega rails is they are *super* easy compared to other free float rails. You basically pop off your handguards and put the rail pieces (it's a 2 piece rail) into the delta ring. You then screw the rail together and use 6 set screws to secure it to the barrel nut. Done! That's it! At least, in practice that's how easy it is hehe. I'll let you know how it goes for me!

If you're interested, Jesse, here's an install guide written by the well-known (at least on the AR15.com forums) Stickman.
