Group buy on upper receivers?
« on: September 06, 2011, 07:04:39 PM »
Anyone interested in a group buy on Aero Precision uppers?

http://www.surplusammo.com/products/Aero-Precision-AR15-Assembled-Flat-Top-Upper-Receiver.html

If you buy 5 or more they're 75.99.  With shipping if we buy 5 of them it works out to about 78 bucks and change.  This includes the upper receiver, forward assist, and dust cover, all assembled.

I need one to finish up a dedicated .22 upper I'm building, so I'll probably order as soon as I sell some junk on evilbay to pay for it.  If anyone is interested and we can get at least 5 people I'll put in the order, once I get payment from everyone.  Lincoln residents can pick up from me, or I'll be at the Oct 15th member's meeting.

If we don't get 5 people I'll just order one on my own.  Wesley, this is a perfect start to that .300 BLK project.......

EDIT:  If you've never heard of Aero Precision, they're the company that makes both upper and lower receivers for most of the brands out there.

EDIT 2:  Just to make sure everyone understands, this is just the upper receiver.  No bolt carrier group, charging handle, or barrel.

Ok, I'm going to order on the 16th, so if anyone is interested let me know.  I figure if I wait until payday more people will jump in.  If we have less than 5 I'll go ahead and order anyway, and we can split shipping.  We'll end up paying 5 bucks more apiece.

By the way, if anyone in the Lincoln area is interested in building an upper from scratch I do have all the tools and would be willing to help.

No problem, just let me know.

You don't really save any money by building an upper from scratch, but there are a couple of advantages.  You can buy the parts a piece at a time and spread out the cost, and you can build something that you can't find anywhere else.  The last reason is why I've built all of mine so far.

I'm really tempted by this.  I have been itching to put my first AR together.  Not sure how to do it or where to start, I suppose some money would help.  One of these days and I will be asking many questions.

Yeah, looks like they removed that item from their site.  Oh well, I guess I'll buy a Spikes upper from AIM Surplus.

If you buy 2 or more they're $10 off, so they would be $89.95.  Shipping is free too, so if anyone wants one let me know.

Thanks, that's not a bad deal.  It still needs the forward assist & dust cover but you can buy those on the same site.  They offer a package with the dust cover, forward assist, & charging handle for $30.  I think I'll go with that.

Well, I ordered the upper receiver from J&S Gun parts last week but hadn't got a shipping confirmation yet.  I called today to see what was up and they said they're on back order.  That's funny, their site says they have 3 in stock.

And now Surplus Ammo shows the Aero Precision receivers back in stock.

I'm going to be really upset if I don't get this soon.  I wanted to have this new upper ready in time for the Oct 15th meeting.

Don't expect fast shipping from Surplus Ammo.  I ordered some items from them on the 10th, didn't recieve them until the 20th.  I ordered some mags from Hamlund Tactical the same day and recieved them on the 14th.  The packaging from Surplus ammo left a LOT to be desired as well.

YMMV  ;D
