How long did it take?
« on: September 29, 2011, 09:46:55 PM »
Hi everyone. I'm sure it's been asked/discussed before but I'm not having much luck with the search tonight. About how long did it take you guys to get your permits after you turned in your stuff at the NSP office? I'm so excited and just curious about how much longer I'll have to wait after I get everything done.

From Nebraska Revised Statute 69-2430:

http://uniweb.legislature.ne.gov/laws/statutes.php?statute=69-2430

(b) Beginning January 1, 2010, the permit to carry a concealed handgun shall be issued by the Nebraska State Patrol within forty-five days after the date an application for the permit has been made by the applicant if the applicant has complied with this section and has met all the requirements of section 69-2433.

Mine took exactly 30 days, my son applied at the same time I did, and his came a few days after mine.

You guys probably think it's stupid, but I am SO excited about this.  ;D
This is something I've wanted for a long time and I've just finished my fingerprints and photos at the NSP office here in Scottsbluff. Now I just have to sit and wait. I hate to wait for stuff, but it'll be worth it. Anyway, thanks for the info, guys. I appreciate it.

Tell me about it....I'm getting ready to send in another Form 1.  I don't have any plans to build right now but the wait is so long I'm going to start it anyway.

On a related note - I recently moved and in accordance with the law here I submitted my new application with the change of address and sent in my permit.  I mailed it out in Omaha on a Monday and got my new one the following Tuesday.  Thy say they'll turn these within 5 days and it looks like they're hitting their mark!  My hats off to them - and I feel a whole lot safer being able to carry again.  That was a long 8 days.

Bleh... 12 days so far. :( Still a while to go. Man, I hate waiting. I keep sitting here thinking "Wouldn't it be awesome if I went to the mailbox today and my permit was here?" :D
I know, that won't happen, but you have to admit, that would be cool.

Day 18. It's like waiting for Christmas when I was a kid. Waiting for Christmas as an adult is a whole different matter, as I'd prefer that it took longer. You get the point though, I'm sure. :D

I've spoken to the lady in Lincoln at the CID and my permit is finally in the status of "To be issued". I hope this means I'll be getting it soon. This is day 43 for me. It's been FOREVER. :) I'm so excited though.

I would imagine that all the renewals are slowing down the processing time for all the first time applicants.  They get theirs done within 5 business days, so they get first priority.

49 days?  Thats the longest I've seen here.  They must really be backed up there at Lincoln CID.
