How long to wait for CCW permit?

Small bump. I submitted on Dec 17th, called today out of curiosity and was told that my application is still in "Tier 2." From the way she explained it, it's still in the background check process. Week and a half/two weeks should be 45 days. We'll see what happens.

I submitted on the 14th.    Could the Feds be deliberately holding up checks, or are there so many applying that they are swamped?

My guess, just like everything else firearms related they are swamped.  Let  us know if they go over 45 days and I'll make a call.

i got mine on day 42 which was conveniently about 2 business after i called it arrived in the mail.

I was finerprinted and photo'd on Jan.15th.I was told it would be 12 weeks.

By some of your comments 12 weeks is a vacation.You should submit a Form 4 for an NFA item.

Yikes!  What a difference one week makes...  I submitted my application on January 6th and I was told to expect 40 to 45 days.  What happens if day 45 rolls around with no permit?  I know the administrative code says they will issue it at 45 days with or without the background checks finished...  Has the state patrol ever gotten that badly backed up?

From what folks have posted here, they won't automatically issue at day 45.  You need to call them on day 45 and ask about the status, and nicely press them to issue the permit as indicated by law.  They had gotten back down to a 3 - 4 week wait, so wonder what happened to extend the processing time again.

I submitted my paperwork on Jan. 8th and they told me it would take the 45 days because they have large number of permits coming in. I believe the law is 45 calender days not working days.

Monday morning I would call down and ask if your permit is ready to pickup as the law requires

I just called.   They said it was completed and mailed on the 25th.   So, it wasn't on today's US mule, but will probably be on the mule coming Tuesday  or Wednesday.   Good.  Twenty days before the board of pardons meets again.
