First ENPS USPSA match of 2013: Sunday, January 6th
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:57:27 PM »
Yes, it'll be cold.  Come out and shoot anyway, you know it'll be more fun than almost anything else you could be doing.

USPSA Match at the Eastern Nebraska Gun Club--5 stages, lots of shooting.

Registration (and match setup!) start at 7:15am, so after you register, grab a hammer and a screwdriver and come help set up.  Registration closes at 8:40, with the new shooter/safety briefing at that time.  Shooter's meeting is at 9am, after which the fun will start.

If you don't know where ENGC is, here you go--Google Maps link:  http://goo.gl/maps/AEaak

Come in the entrance then drive all the way down to the pistol bays clear at the end.  Find the hot redhead in the snowsuit inside the stats building to register, and she'll tell you where we need help.  :)

(I wonder if I'm going to get in trouble for saying that about our treasurer?  Hm.  Probably. Ah well.)

Looks to be a balmy 28 degrees, with the sun out it should be toasty.

I am in. How does one draw from a snow suit???

By sewing three loops on it, and running your belt through it.  :)

That's exactly what I do.  And this year, Julie is doing the same.

(Note:  According to USPSA rules, the belt must be either 1) "securely fastened at the waist", or 2) through a minimum of three belt loops---and #1 has been judged by NROI to mean "the belt is sewn directly to the pants" not merely "fastened tightly."  So---have someone quickly sew three loops on your suit.  This has worked for me for the past couple of years!)

Drawing from a snow suit is easy - just sew belt loops onto it and put your gear on outside of it! :)

Good seeing all 43 of you out there today!   For those who missed it, yes, it started out cold---but turned into a BEAUTIFUL shooting day.  5 fairly tricky stages, with some significantly high levels of required accuracy.

Match results are up already:  http://www.easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/2013/2013.htm

(And congrats to OnTheFly who pulled 3rd in Production, beating out a number of higher-classed people.  Note:  I didn't say higher-class, though I should have after the Beavis/Butthead comment of his on a different thread.  I took the high road, and merely said higher-classified shooters.)

When I drove by Plattsmouth and saw it was a balmy 14 degrees I had my doubts.  It turned out to be a decent day for shooting in January.  Now I just have to start shooting better :)
