*Second* contact with LEO while carrying - positive
« on: February 25, 2013, 02:10:04 PM »
Hello all,

Just wanted to share a pisitive experience I had after being pulled over by OPD while carrying.

For reference, you can look on the second page of this section for my thread titled "first contact with leo while carrying - positive"

Yes my right foot weighs a lot.

Anyways,
I was stopped by OPD at about 170th and dodge (on the 168 off-ramp) for speeding.  Legitimate stop.  The officer approached the vehicle and I immeadiately informed him that I had a CHP and a handgun in the vehicle.  He asked where it was and I told him it was in the glove box in front of my passenger.  He then asked me what type of handgun it was and I told him (glock 27), which I thought was a little odd but not too out of the ordinary.  He then just asked for my license and registration papers and stated to just leave the gun in the glovebox.  He ran my information and came back with a "courtesy citation" which is OPD's form of a warning ticket.  Never mentioned the handgun and never even cared to see my CHP after I informed him I was carrying.  Was very curteous throughout the contact but also professional and reminded me that the speed limit dropped to 55 at 156/dodge.  Overall a positive experience and my second positive one with OPD.  Overall Tally 2 positive and 0 negative.

While I have only had one "official" contact with LPD, (same reason lol) I have talked OTR with several officers who have blatantly stated, "Tell me what and where, and I'm happy with that."
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

Glad you had a positive experience.  Good to hear another instance in which leos are comfortable with carrying with proper conduct.  To top it off he only gave you a warning ticket. He must have been a glock guy lol

You are running out of good fortune, eventually you will run into a leadfoot hater and get a big fat ticket.

Greg58 AKA "Obama with lady legs" is my old man.

Anyways thanks to all who responded.  That's two good interactions with OPD.  If nothing else then I'm having plenty of positive interactions with the LEO and spreading positive encounters among the OPD ranks at a lot faster rate then the rest of you.   :P
