Need to find a cheap place to stay in Grand Island
« on: May 28, 2009, 01:38:14 PM »
I'll be heading out to Grand Island next weekend for the gun show.  I need to find a cheap, but decent, motel to stay at for saturday night.

Maybe something somewhat near the fairgrounds, walking distance to a bar would be good too...  8)

Any suggestions?

FarmerRick.
It has been a while since I lived in the area, but there are ~ three choices for you to pick from.

Super 8
2603 S. Locust
(308) 384- 4380

Island Inn
2311 S. Locust
(308) 382-1815

Holiday Inn - Midtown
2503 S. Locust
(888) 897-0084

I believe that Super 8 is the closest to the fair grounds.

There is a viaduct as you come into town.  Provides a good wind block if you snuggle underneath it real tight.  Heard the rate is really cheap, too.  Don't know what you will do to secure you guns though.....

Something about half way between the last 2 suggestions would be about my speed.  :o

Super 8 and Howard Johnson on S. Locust.  They're not far from Fonner Park, which is where the show is located.

Jay and Kim stayed at the Holiday Inn when they came in for the Hastings show.

The Holiday Inn has a hot tub and a hoppin' bar, pretty hard to go wrong there.  ;)

Kim and I are really thinking about coming out to the show to help sign up members, if you want to save some money, we could share a room...

I would definatly vote for the Holiday Inn...the bar is awesome (and so was the hot tub)!!!!

We could share a room as long as it was not with a minor again  ;)

I would be ok with that, my kids are definitely not coming along with me.  ;D

I guess Scott Barry(LitlRat) and Lance Arnold(FFL dealer) are staying at the Island Inn...anyone know what that place is like?

It would be fun if a bunch of us could all stay at the same place.

Cheap, paper thin walls, just a place to sleep.

Holiday Inn sounds like a party, though.

Holiday Inn on the interstate is ok, I'd stay away from the Holiday Inn Express right next to it though.  I travel the state alot and prefer Holiday Inn Express in general with the exception of the Grand Island one. The HI express in general is worth a few bucks more considering the hot breakfast.  The Holiday Inn on the interstate is ok though.

I don't know, Kim. With this weekend not going at all like I hoped it would, you might be going out there by yourself. If my parts that I was hoping were going to show up this weekend get here later in the week, or next weekend, then I'm camping out in our shed. You and Rick will have to tip a few back for me.
