Elkhorn Man Foils Burgulars With His Shotgun.

My wife know the wife of this guy and burgulars broke into their detached garage while she was home several weeks ago. She actually saw them leaving after her dog discovered a problem.
This time a good guy with a gun prevailed.

I found it interesting that he held the burglars at gunpoint until the police showed up and he wasn't arrested. I was under the impression that was a no-no

Nope...in Nebraska one can use "force" to protect property (Sec 28-1411).  What would have been an interesting dilemma would have been had he needed to employ "deadly force" i.e. the BGs had a gun/shot at him.....not real clear in the law how that might work as hypothetically a wiley-prosecutor (don't believe Don Kliene would have)  could play it into "why did you just not call the police sir instead of 'taking the law into your own hands'.   Not saying I agree with it so I get it if you feel I'd do this or that, blah blah blah.... just saying the law pretty gray in areas like this when stuff can be replaced with insurance, but lives cannot.....  just some things to ponder....
