I put a "Sad" marker on this post because he was arrested for

Kokesh, a former Marine, was being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, charged with possession of schedule I and II drugs while in possession of a firearm, ...

There are several things sad about this.  The first is that according to the DEA:
Quote
Please note that a substance need not be listed as a controlled substance to be treated as a Schedule I substance for criminal prosecution.
So, Mens Rae takes no part in the process.  If you possess a chemical compound which  is not listed in PUBLIC listings of the schedule I drugs (they have to be listed somewhere so DEA officials have a guideline, else they are making it up as they go) you have no way of knowing if you violate the drug laws.   Catch-22.

It's one thing to deliberately poke a hornet's nest with a stick.   Kokesh was doing that.  The Feds slapped him down.  How they did it is despicable and abusive.   Worse yet, it is a technique that could be used to silence political dissent.  We have SIX recent examples of how that works against Conservatives.   Now, it appears, being in possession of some "drug" which you  have no way of knowing is a schedule I drug can be used to make you a felon and thus end your right to own or carry a weapon.  Of course, they couldn't use this technique on everyone, it would be too obvious.  But they could use it on the outspoken and/or effective 2nd Amendment supporters.

Kokesh does a lot of harm to our cause, IMO.  I agree with the end result he wants to achieve, but his methods make him (and the rest of us by extension) look like crackpots.

You are right about the Feds' reaction.  They will use whatever means necessary to silence those who stand against them.
