I don't see the problem. Being prepared is part of the game. If someone doesn't have slugs, I'm sure they can borrow or just shoot at it with birdshot and take the miss.
Well, no.
If this were a larger match, that would be one thing. If we'd told people at the beginning of the year that they need to always have slugs on hand and that we were no longer going to specify matches when slugs or other specialized ammo was needed, that's something too.
As most people don't bring enough slugs to share with everyone else, AND because our policy in the past has
always been to inform people when they need ammunition other than birdshot---I'm sure the match staff will talk about it tomorrow if necessary, and it isn't automatically my decision, but I'm just saying that having an alternate stage design might be a good idea. I might be wrong, you never know.
I note that if people want to have a stage with slugs, 1) feel free to volunteer to design one and build it, and 2) for this year, at least, make sure everyone else knows about it in plenty of time so that everyone knows what will be required of them so they can be prepared.
If you want to talk to the match director about making an announcement that in the future everyone should automatically bring slugs and buckshot just in case, you are certainly welcome to do so. After all, if that happens I get to stop having to post information about it everywhere.
Since we haven't done that yet, though, and we DO currently normally tell people about specialized ammo needs, however.....
