Completion requirements
Objectives of this lesson
- Identify the four levels of awareness
- Describe how to avoid criminal attacks
Situational Awareness
- Staying safe can be a challenge. The old expression "he never knew what hit him" applies here. One of the best ways to keep yourself and your family safe is to maintain an awareness of the environment around you, wherever you are.
- We need to see the possibility of "it" coming so that we can avoid it. This includes avoiding confrontations or evading criminal attacks.
- Avoiding "sketchy" areas of town or known trouble spots is a good place to start
- Our goal should always be to avoid confrontation if at all possible. Being successful requires the proper mindset. Hopefully you will never have to draw your weapon to defend yourself or others.
- Carrying a weapon does not give us any special privileges or authority. It does give us extra responsibility to act appropriately in tense situations
- USE OF DEADLY FORCE IS A LAST RESORT
