I had a blast at this match. All of the stages were fairly simple, I thought. Driving and shooting was awesome.
Hm. Actually, I thought that all but stage 2 was straightforward (in that there were no questions about how to shoot them) but that all stages but 2 were not easy in terms of getting good hits at speed. In every single case, there were shots that required quite a bit of care.
And stage 2 was interesting, because as a Production shooter I could think of 3 different ways to shoot it effectively. (If I were in Open or Limited, that would probably have turned into 1 or 2 different ways.) Which of those three to pick---really depended on the specific shooting strengths of the competitor.
(By the way---when are you going to join USPSA? Sheesh! Among other things, it'll give you a breakdown of your times/points/etc for each stage, and you also can see how you stood relative to the people in your division, as opposed to compared to everyone in the match.)
For example---I don't think stage 4 was simple. Straightforward, yes---but certainly not simple, particularly since the person who did BEST on that stage at our match (which certainly wasn't me) still only got a barely-B-class hit factor nationally. And 13 people zeroed the stage. :/
So, maybe it is a simple/easy/straightforward semantics thing--but I find that in USPSA, simple does not mean easy! And if you didn't get within 5% of the high score in your division on that stage, well, then... After all, you aren't trying to beat the stage, you are trying to beat everyone else who shoots the stage.
Anyone think that we should have a multi-gun rifle stage with a driving portion on the 100 yard range?
I have an idea for designing the stage if it is something we could actually do.
Talk to Tom Engel--I know a couple of people have already said that this would be a completely fun time.
