Richardson County Deputy Sheriff interaction

Got pulled over this mornin on my way back into town. I may have been traveling a bit quicker than was recommended.

Anyway, I pulled over, all four windows down and hands crossed on top of the steering wheel. The Deputy approached and introduced himself, I informed him I was a permit holder and carrying, he simply stated, "Thank you."

He asked for my creds, and I told him I had my firearm positioned above my wallet. He actually smiled and said don't pull yours and I won't pull mine.

Sounded like a fair trade to me. Asked what I was carrying, complimented me on my choice and gave me a verbal warning.

He was extremely polite and professional throughout the entire encounter.

But, never say anything to a  police officer you don't want to have tossed back against you in court.

The encounter by gds with the police is probably the norm, not the exception.   However, that doesn't include the people who man the TSA VIPR no-warrant stop and search teams, and the occasional John Wayne with  a badge reincarnation.

I have yet to be stopped while carrying BUT I have been stopped.  They usually ask what I carry and I tell them, "a 1911."

Then, I don't get a ticket. 

A coincidence?  I don't think so.

They just feel bad knowing what sort of problems you already have on your hands :-)

When I lived in VA I am 99% sure my CCW got me out of a ticket. I was pulled over for a busted tail light while on my way to get some red tape to fix it.  Old cop asked me what I was carrying and I told him a 1911. He then went on a mini rant about how they just don't make guns like that anymore and how he wished his department issued metal instead of 'plastic guns'. (For the record I enjoy 1911s and polymers just as much). His demeanor totally changed from alpha male cop to friendly cop after that and I was allowed to go on my way.

I think it was because he saw your "1,000 yard Ninja Death Stare" and you were wearing your TR ball cap....

Actually I had my CW45.

Good choice. I love my CW9, but I do have to admit that it has been replaced with the Glock 23 since the weather has cooled off.

I would have to say the Glock 19 and 23 are probably
the best carry guns hands down.  Just my opinion.
