OPD Needs A Little Education. SKAR .762?

Right on their Facebook page. They apparently removed a "SKAR .762" from a thug. You can certainly feel the anti gun attitude in the post.

A stolen mil-spec weapon was loose on the streets of Omaha?!? :o   Boy, if we had enacted "common sense" legislation requiring universal background checks then this sort of thing wouldn't have....oh wait....stolen? ???  You mean to say that when criminals utilize illegally obtained items in the commission of further unlawful acts that they don't seem fazed by the fact that they failed to apply for the proper paperwork and permissions in direct violation of strict federal guidelines??  :o...go figure.

On a more serious note I did like the way one poster talked up the beautiful workmanship and quality of the SCAR-17 as well as any FN sales rep could hope for ;D

As I posted on one of their many reposts of that pic "I bet whoever lost their scar now has a safe or won't be leaving it out again."

I'd be willing to bet the lawful owner of that rifle never gets it back (without a legal battle)....

Yeah...I was surprised that they came out and made that statement on fb.  Maybe they meant that it would EVENTUALLY be returned, after all it is used as evidence for years, etc.

I wonder how the owner secured the rifle. He or she may need to practice doing a better job on the "keep" part of the RKBA.

OPD's firearms evidence room is a hell of a sight.  I hope the owner gets the SCAR back.

Not everyone can afford a safe, or lives in a house. Maybe we should focus on the people who committed the crimes.

OR it would be returned to the owner during questioning, so he can verify it was his, and then locking it back up.

NENick,
I thought I may catch some flak for that, but I think it is worth mentioning. Not much we say on here is going to have an impact on thugs stealing other peoples' guns. We can, however, remind other responsible gun owners that we should be doing what we can to prevent such happenings.

I'm not saying the government needs to step in, or that the owner should face criminal charges. I do think, as a community of gun owners, responsible voluntary storage is something we should promote.
