A Gun Christmas

I got my daughter a Ruger SR22 for Christmas.

And my wife got me a Ruger American Compact in .243

I would say it was a great Christmas!

Nice.  That is a great Christmas for sure. 

Almost all of my boys' presents are gun related.

My oldest finally got his AR upper to finish his rifle.  There are things like a bipod, ammo, magazines, some knives, etc. 

Should this be called Gunmas.....???   :laugh:

Santa brought both the wife and I S&W MP 9mm Shields...  He added Pearson grip extenders to the 7 Mags and those went to the wife while he gave the 8 Mags to me.

Wife got me a new set of Cajun Gun Works sights to replace the factory ones on my CZ75B.

I'm going to have less of an excuse for sucking at USPSA this season.

Oh yeah, and Rob made me buy a Geissele trigger for my 3 gun rifle.  At least I'm going to blame him for it when it shows up and my wife yells at me.  So now I have less of an excuse for sucking at multigun too.

and used New Years to teach the wife how to field strip, clean and lubricate her S&W MP Shield 9mm.     Now to just get some rounds thru it to hopefully listen the slide pull a bit - a little hard for her to rack the slide, but appears normal for it.  A good Christmas

Dave, my wife and yours are in agreement about slides.  Her biggest complaint about shooting.  Racking the slide. 

Can we have a Gun New Years?  I purchased a Glock Cutaway at 5am 1-1-14

My lady friend has the Glock 26, and racking the slide is her biggest problem. She has a few hundred rounds through it, not nearly enough to loosen it yet!

I just read an article about hard to rack slides, I'll see if I can find it again.
But for the Glocks and some others, A company has a loop type device that clamps in the serrations.  I guess it's becoming popular with police depts for use of ease in wounded situations.
There are also different ways to grip and rip that use different mechanics / leverages of the body.  I taught some to mom and she found one very useful, but it is very hard to explain in words.

Yes, but the fella in the article and comments stated, inability to easily pull the slide can be the cause of other unsafe behavior.  It is a automatic reaction to grip something with ALL your fingers- including the trigger one.  As he showed, when the loop was added, keeping the finger off the trigger was much less of an issue.
I had never thought about it, but it seems to make some sense. 
now as for the sweeping.......

Great comments ... Will watch the video and check out the loop... The hope is she gets some rounds thru it (and works on strength) then it solves itself.     Took both guns to the range today and put a few each ... I like them ...now to get her there to see if she does... If she doesn't then I have 2 guns ... I win either way
