February Coffee 2/1/14
« on: January 19, 2014, 12:35:59 PM »
Same time same place with a twist.

D&K cafe
Gretna NE
1100 hours

We are going to split these again after this meeting, plans are being made for some members to take over an Omaha based meeting, and I'll be organizing a Lincoln meeting. Maybe once very couple months we can do a big shindig and get everyone together, but after feb it will be split again.

Now that that's out of the way, we need an accurate head count so I can give d&k a heads up. (I don't want to spring another 20 people when when I told them 10-12).
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

Put me in the "regrets" column.  I have a Scout function all day on the 1st.  :(

I think they might keep it at D&K.

Don't know yet, haven't gotten things finalized yet.

Egg & I in Papillion at 84th & Hwy 370 is a great place with a free separate meeting room.

Hey guys just a heads up, I had the opportunity to invite Charlie Janssen to this little shindig. He would like to talk, just for five minutes or so. I didn't see any reason to say no.

Looks like he will be attendance, just waiting on further confirmation from his staff.

I called D&K this morning and have them a heads up. I erred on the side of caution this time and told them to expect 15-20 guests.

I do not know if I will be there due to an unfortunate occurrence regarding a water pump, but I will try to be there.

Does anyone ever OC at these events? I'm looking for a good venue to start and get over the initial hesitation and anxiety. I've never Open Carried anywhere besides western nebraska. Besides it'd be good to put some faces with names.

I don't think anyone has that I've noticed. D&K Cafe is usually inhabited by regular folk, but seems to include more than their fair share of likely easily frightened blue-haired little old ladies(no, not you NEBull...  ;D ).
I suggest you pass on open carrying for this time, and politely ask the owner if they'd mind if you open carried next time

It's their restaurant, and we need to be respectful of their wishes when it comes to something like that. They've been pretty patient with us staying longer than most customers at 6-10 tables, and talking about guns, ammo, shooting cute little bunnies, deer, etc, etc...

See ya'll tomorrow!!

I wish I would've read this before I went out on my errand run. I would've snagged a green NFOA shirt from you!

It was nice meeting all you guys. Glad I was able to make it!
