ENPS Steel Challenge match, February 16th!
« on: February 04, 2014, 06:01:46 PM »
We've got another Steel Challenge match coming up in two weeks!  (And yes, the weather will be JUST FINE that day, so no "oh, it'll be too cold!" excuses.)

We had 71 people show up for the January match this year---think we can beat that this time?  It sure would be cool to try...

ENPS Steel Challenge Match, February 16th:

As always, 6 official SC stages, all for $15.  Setup starts at 7:15am, registration closes at 8:40, safety briefing/new shooter briefing at that time, with the shooter's meeting starting at 9am and lots of loud banging noises right after.

We've got pre-registration open already, so if you know you are going to be there, pre-register to make our lives easier!

https://clubs.practiscore.com/enps-february-steel-challenge/register

Remember---even if you pre-register, you still need to stop by registration and pay for the match, plus have Ardena check you off the list.  So don't forget to do that!

See you all on the range!

(Additional note:  remember that in March and April we'll be having Multigun matches on the 3rd Sunday of the month, and May has the Man-vs-Man match---so we won't be getting to shoot another Steel Challenge match until June.  So make sure you can shoot this one, because while we ARE having four more this year, after this one it is going to be awhile!)

Pre-reg is still open, we've got about 25-30 people already registered (and squadded---remember, pre-reg is ESPECIALLY a good idea if there are people you want to shoot with, because squadding requests are much more likely to occur if you pre-reg instead of waiting until the last moment) and the weather is supposed to be considerably better than the last match.  :)

If you HAVE pre-registered already, please remember to click on the link in the email sent to you, and actually squad yourself.

Six stages, lots of shooting---and hopefully more aiming than last time.  (At least, that's what I'm hoping for...)  Remember---the next SC match after this won't be until June.  The good side of that is that you'll have several months to practice.  The bad side is that you'll have to wait until then to shoot SC again.  So make sure to come out to the match this Sunday!

(Of course, we'll have Multigun matches and the Man vs Man match in the meantime, so it isn't like you'll be bored....)

Currently, we already have over 50 people pre-registered for the SC match tomorrow, which is excellent.    We had 71 shooters in January, and our record for most shooters ever at a SC match is 79.....so I hope we can break that record tomorrow!

(If nothing else, we'd better break the current February record, which is 56.  Of course, the January record used to be 46, and the 71 last month kinda destroyed that, so that is a good trend to start...)

Some good news for folks---USPSA has recently put out some information about changes that are going to be occurring this year, most of which are uniformly good.  ONE of the good things is that if you have a USPSA membership, you will automatically receive an equivalent SCSA membership.  (Actually, the way it really was stated was that as SCSA is part of USPSA, if you have one membership, it will count for USPSA and SCSA.)

So, since we are an official USPSA- and SCSA-affiliated club, if you are a USPSA member, that will automatically get you classified (and record your stats) in SCSA also.  I believe the same is true if you have a SCSA membership, but not one for USPSA---it will count for both.

In the future, membership renewals will just be "USPSA," and will count for both sports.  (Actually, I believe it will also count for USPSA Multigun, though currently stats aren't being kept for that.  Yet.)

Weather tomorrow doesn't look QUITE as nice as originally hoped for---but still plenty warm enough to shoot.  See you all at the range!

That was OUTSTANDING!

We had 78 people show up to shoot today, blowing away the previous "February record" of 56---and almost beating the overall SC match record of 79 shooters in a match.

....so you've got until June to get in some practice, because we need to get even MORE people to show up then!  (Yes, our next SC match isn't until June.  Until then, you'll have to shoot two Multigun matches plus the Man-vs-Man match in addition to the monthly USPSA matches, which isn't exactly a hardship, now is it?)

Match results have been calculated (2340 score entries later) and will be up on the ENPS website soon.  (I'll add another post with the link when they show up.)

....I will note that SeanN SMOKED everyone else at the match with an amazing 63.26 seconds.  The second-best time of the match was 84.98!  He was shooting Rimfire Rifle Optics, so that may have had something to do with it---but Sean had an amazing match, folks.  (Best centerfire pistol score was 88.31, as a comparison.)

Sorry I missed this one. I was really planning to attend. On Saturday, I did a 30mile training ride and petered out about 4 miles from the truck... Needless to say, it took me a day and a half to recover.

WIMP!

C'mon, this was Steel Challenge, and we didn't shoot Outer Limits.  You didn't even have to move at all during timed shooting!

...seriously, you missed out.  Started a little cold, but the weather really wasn't bad, and with just two more people we could have broken the overall match record for number of shooters.

But no, you thought it was more important to not be in pain.  Sheesh.  Selfish!

(And now you have to wait until June for the SC match.  June!  MONTHS away!)

Man, that Sean guy is a beast.

I'm thinking of putting a big ol' oil smudge on his red dot right before his first stage next time.  You know, to help him with his tactical practice.   >:D

Haha, thanks for the kind words guys.  :o

To be fair, I did have a pretty insane advantage. .22 rifle with a red dot is about as "easy" as you can make steel challenge. It is a helluva lot of fun though!

I hope I can make all of them so I can get my four in with .22 open rifle and then do a couple with handgun. I've been dryfire practicing like crazy with my handgun... I hope it makes a noticeable difference in competition!
