5.56 Nato, Non-FMJ?

I generally shoot at the BH, and in my fore-planning was just looking around a bit at ammo options.

Upon looking at the BH website, it states:

HIGH POWER RIFLES Only rifle calibers with a velocity of under 3,500 fps and with a muzzle energy of under 3,000 foot pounds are allowed. If you are unsure if you caliber qualifies ask. All high power rifle ammo must have a lead soft point or hollow point bullet. No full metal jacket ammunition is allowed. NO belted magnum calibers are allowed.

anybody have any ammo options for me? 

i'm not looking to buy today, so my search hasn't been extensive, but what i have seen is all FMJ.

Ahhh, I think I see the problem...you are not buying your ammo from the BH  ::)

See if you can find some quality reman ammo using Hornady 55gr PSP bullets ( soft point )

This is the bullet I use for all my plinking loads in .223

Is .223 pressure loads ok, or are you looking especially for something loaded to NATO specs?

For shooting at the BH I would suggest this: http://ammunitionstore.com/products/223-5-56x45-ammo-55gr-hp-wolf-1000-round-case.html

55 grain HP and it's steel cased, so you don't have to worry about collecting your brass there.

BH = bullet hole.

i would rather go to Take Aim.  been to the bullet hole once and will never go back.  i hear great things about Take Aim however, but i have never been there.

I have never even heard of Take Aim.  Will look into it.


I figured the BH probably had the stuff they want us to use for sale.....  Go figure.

I have never shoot at the BH but I have talked with some employees and the seem like AH.  :angry:

I buy most of my ammo at Walmart they seem to have a constant flow of 223/556. They are about $.50 a round which is not the best price but for convince that's what you get. A lot of ammo sites will have free shipping on 1000 round cases which makes it worth buying on line if you got the cash.

Have shot at the Bullet Hole many times and was always treated good. Staff was helpful when looking at new and used forearms. The owner is usually there and is approachable if needed.

The soft point rule is not new at the BH.

I enjoy going to the bullet hole. Staff is really friendly. Being able to rent a bunch of different guns is a real plus.

Yes inside when it's cold. Other wise I do have a hundred yard range. Which I pay taxes on, so it is a wash.
