High end firearms appraisals?
« on: April 03, 2014, 05:09:26 PM »
Does anyone know of an independent appraiser in the Lincoln/Omaha area who could give a value on a handmade Austrian gun?  I know someone who has something they need a value on.

Possibly.  I believe it's a Ferlach side by side rifle/shotgun combo.  I haven't seen it, it actually belongs to the father of someone I know.

Take a look at this link I found....  There are Ferlach guns listed.

That style of rifle/shotgun combo appears to be referred to as a "Cape" gun.  Most of them have a 16ga shotgun bbl and a rifle bbl such as a 7x57.

A "Drilling" gun has 3 bbls...   This link is a double 16 with a 7x65 rifle bbl on the bottom.

I've done some looking online and it seems the Ferlach guns can vary pretty wildly in value.  I've seen everything from around $1000 up into the low 5 digits.
