I couldn't believe it myself.  Must be the new common core education.
I grew up with Nebraska being The Good Life.  And Kansas the Land Of Ahhs!
Catchy,recognizable, and descriptive.
NICE!  WTH does that supposed to mean?

If they wanted the slogan to be accurate....

Nebraska, the tax-me state
Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.

It took nine months of intense research, surveys, consultants, discussion, interviews, a branding company and a marketing firm,  and a price tag of $75,000.

Why the fuss, that's only $37,500 per word...      ::)

Agreed. This is the result of the Nebraska Tourism Commission being spun off from the Department of Economic Development. They persuaded people, including almost the entire legislature, that the governor and the agency leadership were holding back their tourism promotion activities and that they needed more autonomy in spending state tourism dollars. They got their independent commission, and this is what they did with it.

What's really weird about it is, it's not quite accurate. Sure, we're nice, but it's not our forte. Having lived in the South and in Texas, those are places where southern charm and hospitality really are evident.

Nebraskans inherited more of a Teutonic love of efficiency, work ethic, stoicism and and respect for rule of law. But just like you'll never see a slogan that says, "Germany... Nice!" (maybe, "Germany... Pick up after your scheiß dog!") it doesn't fit here any better.

"Nebraska. Git-R-Done."  Pay Larry $75k for the rights. See how easy that was? And more in line with our state's ethos.

I'd gladly give up Omaha in trade for Carter Lake.
