Shot Skeet Today at Harry A. Koch Range [First Time]

Sold the Hot-Rodded Browning BT-99 single tube trap gun.  High vent rib, stock positioning system, mercury tube, adjustable comb, etc.   Gold trigger and engraving.    Bought a Browning Citori Plus Over/Under.

Because..............   2014 is the year that I begin shooting (a) double trap and (b) skeet.   You need two barrels for those capers.    (Using the Benelli Black Eagle semi-auto just seems like Bad Form, whatever.)

Double Trap is going OK.   Shooting in the 40s now.   Still a lot of work to do, but OBOY, you get to make Twice as Much Noise.    And faster.

Now... Took advantage of HA Koch range re-opening price of $2/round, trap and skeet today.   With focus on the skeet range.   Nice range employee named Stan showed me the range setup and walked me through the stations.

And Then I Shot the Living Daylights Out of Everything that Flew.   

But..... I am Not Fooled.

Same thing happened with golf.   And with trapshooting.   And bowling.   And the casino.  And other endeavors, as well.    Once, a Very Pretty Girl even agreed to go out with me when I asked her.   Once.

Nature's Evil Trick.   Entice you in with an incredible run of Beginner's Luck.   Then heap on intense humiliation and shame later when you have a large audience.   The audience to which you had been bragging.

And Nature snickers..............

Anyhow, fun was had and no animals were harmed in the process.

I'll be back.   Just like Ahnold.   Tomorrow.   Don't watch.   It'll be ugly.

anyways... is 40 a good score?  Never shot trap, skeet, or anything of the sort.  I've shot at blue-rocks a couple times before... many, many moons ago. Hit a few, missed a few. Meh...

Actually, 50 is a good score.   Perfect score, for that matter.

In trap doubles you shoot two boxes of shotshells, which most everbody knows is 50 shells.   Get 'em all, you got a 50.   Shooting in the 40s means you're moving along with your game, depending on high 40s or low 40s.   High 40s is a good score.   Means you only missed two or three.

The clays go out in a Vee shaped pattern, left and right.   Same angle and location each time.   So you can point your shotgun toward the first clay and get a good jump on it.   And usually nail it.

But.... after shooting the first clay, you've got to turn to the second clay and it has been chogeying along at 40+ mph for a bit while you were busy with the first one.   Which means it's out there a ways.   Better to shoot it while still going up, if possible, which is very hard to do.   For me, anyhow.   At this stage of my game.

But it's fun.   Any trapshooting is fun:  Singles, Handicap (shooting from further back), and Double.  Thoroughly addictive.

Some have said it's the most fun you can have without involving girls.

100 is a good score, 50 is only half of a real doubles event. I broke a lot of 50's but never 100 in Doubles. A 97 earned me ATA Central zone Class C champion once upon a time
