One of these days I need to scan some of the pictures that my Grandfather took while he was stationed in Paris during the occupation. He was in the infantry and was on a steamship on his way to Europe when the Treaty of Versailles Armistice was signed. He worked in the postmaster's office and took quite a few pictures on his down time. 
Some of the devastation is pretty incredible.

Very cool, thanks for sharing that.  I'm a history nerd too.
