Picked up a Remington 700 sps tactical yesterday and am already planning on replacing the Hague stock as soon as I have more fun money. What are decent options that are affordable. I'm not shooting 1000 yards here just want minor upgrade

I would send the barrel to adco, make sure its done right the first time.

I just picked up a MDT LSS chassis for mine.

If you're not familiar with the MDT LSS, give it a look. It allows you to utilize AICS magazines and any AR-compatible stock and pistol grip.

Nice! I've been thinking about one of those. The only thing that's making me hesitate is their weight. They're so light that I think my rifle might be too front heavy with the can on it.

I like my Bell & Carlson stock. It's rock solid and a good value for the money but it is a little on the heavy side.

I'm running a 16.5" barrel. I think that will be OK - even with a can.

Yeah, with a 16.5 you should be good. My rifle is a bit of a pig and it only has a 20" barrel.

If your looking for a stock, look on E bay and gun broker for a LEFT handed H&S precision stock, they have a full length aluminum bedding that runs from the recoil pad to the front sling swivel, the left hand and right hand stocks are the same, just glass in the bolt groove and cut out another one on the right side, Ive done this on quite a few rifles, for a little work, you can save half the cost of a very good stock,

Mudinyeri, that is a pretty sweet stock, I have seen those online before, but those pretty spendy? If you're putting that on, what stock are you taking off? stock stock?- and I'm not sure the relation, cousin maybe? but I grew up with Tim (norfolk/stanton), well my brother did, I was the annoying little brother always hanging around.

All i want is the stock that comes on the police model, which is a bell and carlson.

16.5 inch barrel is what I was looking for but couldn't find one so just went with 20 inch, but if I get it threaded then the barrel can be cut to whatever length.
the 20 inch is a 1:12 the 16.5 inch is 1:10 twist

would it be a bad idea to shortern barrel as it is 1:12?

before I bought this rifle I ALMOST bought a cheaper gun, Ruger american in 308 with 16.5 inch barrel that was already threaded, much cheaper rifle, must thinnger barrel, but still was pretty nice rifle.

The MDT LSS chassis is $399. Not terribly expensive.

Tim is my youngest brother. I'm the oldest.

Another pic of the LSS coming together. I thought I had a mil-spec AR tube laying around but only found commercial spec tubes in my stash so no stock mounted yet.
