Precision Response Training has scheduled a Handgun Technique course for July 25th and 26th, and a Shooting Skills course for July 26th.

The HT course is a 1.5 day class, with dryfire and technique practice in the classroom Friday night (the 25th), and then a full day at the range working those techniques ending with a qualification course on Saturday (the 26th).

The Shooting Skills course is a 1 day class on the range on the 26th.  (HT is a Level II skills course, while the SS class is a Level III skills course.)

And yes, those can (and do) run quite well concurrently.  The drills aren't the same, nor are the expectations the same, but the two classes fit together quite easily.  People wanting the dryfire portion of the HT class but the drills portion of the SS class should sign up for the HT class, but send me an email letting me know they want the higher-level drills of the SS class on Saturday.

Costs:  $140 for the HT class, $100 for the SS class.

If you are interested in what other people thought of this class, here is an AAR posted by NFOA forum member Aldo, who just took the class last March:

Huh?!  ???

[sigh]  That's what I get for copying sections from previous posts, and only proof-reading parts of them....

Fixed.

That's what I figured.  All this proofreading of your work has got to add up to some phenomenal discounts on your classes.

I'll think about it.  :)

(Actually, unfortunately, I'm probably going to have to raise my prices on most classes a bit due to materials and background stuff just costing more.  On the other hand, I'm currently charging about half of what several other training schools around here are charging, so I'm thinking it'll work out even if I have to charge up to $20 more for several classes.  It does amaze me to see that people are paying $360 for a 3-hour course...)

Just kidding of course.  Your courses are worth the money.  I just need to find that money and the time.

So, lots of people have tried competition shooting recently....the big question is, what do you think of your shooting competency now that you have a data set for comparison?

I don't mean "did you win or lose?!" --- what I mean is if you competed, you've now spent a day or so shooting along with another group of people with diverse shooting skills.

It gives you something to use for comparison.  So what do you think?  How's your draw?  Your reloads?  Your transitions?  What about your ability to hit the target in the first place?  How about your ability to hit difficult targets quickly under stress after moving?

If you already shoot decently well at speed, but have realized that while your shooting is fine, you could become better, then the Shooting Skills class is for you.

How about the people who realized that they aren't comfortable with their draws or reloads at speed?  That what they thought was a "fast draw" really WASN'T, in terms of getting shots on target?  What if they found out that shooting an NRA B-8 target at 7 yards repeatedly just isn't the same as shooting multiple target presentations (and angles, and partials) at speed, and want to learn solid technique to ground their shooting?

That's what the Handgun Technique class is for---giving you the solid technique necessary for continual improvement.

Both classes include dryfire drills and practice you can take home to keep getting better, too.

These aren't "competition" classes---they aren't teaching "competition techniques."  They are all about solid, efficient gun handling skills, which are applicable to ANY firearms application.  (It is just that most people don't know what their skill levels really ARE until they compete.)

Be a better shooter.
