Yet another Glock thread... 17L or 34, and why?
« on: July 05, 2014, 09:14:21 PM »
I want a loooooong slide Glock in 9mm, the question is which one should I buy, and why?

It's purpose would be purely recreational shooting, and maybe some quiet shooting with an Osprey suppressor.

I don't need one, but I don't see what that has to do with anything anyway.  ;D

Aaaaaaaannnndddd....  GO!

If you ever want to try USPSA, the 17L is not legal because the barrel is too long.

Does anyone make a threaded barrel long enough to fit the L slide?

From what I am seeing the 34 is more readily available new and used than the 17L.

Lone wolf makes a 6.6" threaded barrel for the 17.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

G34 in my opinion has the best overall balance and good feel.

I shot 3 divisions at a GSSF match 2 weeks ago with these three guns: G17, G34 and G17L. G17 felt the best to me, G34 felt pretty good.... G17L felt heavy and bulky.

Only illegal in production, it's g2g in open and limited minor.

I have the 34 and love it, but I bought it primarily to shoot USPSA production. If I were just buying a range toy, I'd lean toward the 17L for the cool factor. The 40 cal version, the G24 is on my short list.

I want one of the two as well but I've only seen the 34 in stores never seen the 17L well at least not when I went specifically looking for these.
