Federal Primers in Omaha?
« on: August 04, 2014, 11:35:56 AM »
Does anyone know of a business selling Federal large rifle magnum primers in the Omaha area? I am coming to Omaha this week and want to get some Federal primers for my 300 Weatherby.

They don't have any on hand. I will ask to see if they will order some. Might have to pay that darn HASMAT, I think it is called.

I might just call Cabela's in LaVista and see if they have some.

Thanks for you input.

You could try Bass Pro just across the river in Council Bluffs too.

Not sure if R. L.Moeller Sporting Arms Carry's primers, but you could ask.

Another is Guns Unlimited in Omaha.

Good luck!

Last resort I will try Guns Unlimited. Not my favorite store to do business with.

Thanks,

Well I found out why no Federal 215 large rifle magnum primers are not available in the Omaha/ Norfolk area. I just received an email from Federal that they realize most dealers do not have Federal 215 magnum primers at this time. Federal is scheduled to start producing magnum 215 rifle primers at the end of September. They said that schedule might change. That is a little late for my elk hunt.

Question, any body willing to sell me 100 primers so that I might test my Weatherby with Federal 215 primers? I live in Norfolk but do go to Omaha from time to time.

Thanks for the info. I have some CCI's for backup but I wanted to try Federal since Weatherby recommends them and a lot of data I have seen recommends Federal. Must be because they are a little softer.

I noticed the email I received from Federal had Federal, Speer and CCI dealer list at the bottom. I emailed them back to see if CCI is made by Federal and if Federal and CCI primers are the same beast. Haven't heard back.

I have no idea if they are divisions of the same parent company, but I can say that the small pistol primers are very different between the two brands.  CCI are definitely NOT soft.

I do believe I have some of these primers in the safe if you ever make it to Lincoln I'd be willing to part with 100 of them.
