Members of the NFOA's Legislative Committee are hosting an education summit for Nebraska's elected state officials and their staff. The intent is to educate our legislators on firearms-related issues and discuss how they have been addressed by other states recently.

There is no charge for state elected officials, or those currently running for state offices, and/or their staff to attend.

Please contact your state elected officials and encourage them to attend.

Place: Lincoln Izaak Walton League, Lincoln Chapter 65

Date: September 12, 2014

Bill Kitner just sent me a mailer in combination with NAGR... maybe he could use some education too :)
"Well-regulated" meant well equipped, trained and disciplined... not controlled with an iron fist.

Senator Kintner is their man in Lincoln.
That said, Bill is friendly with the NFOA.
They just do a better job or marketing themselves than we do.  Spend their-your money on hats and coffee cups, and paid lobbyists, and and and.

Re:  NAGR.... I had a rather lengthy discussion with my sister-in-law who is Dudley's personal assistant.  I HIGHLY suggested if NAGR wants to play in Nebraska they 1) attempt a relationship with NFOA and 2) follow our lead....

Robert.  The only shooting opportunity would be for the invited guests - lawmakers and staff. Not a time for us to play. A few members will be in attendance as RSOs and certified  instructors.  Others will be leading the legislative talks along with some industry leaders from around Nebraska.
This is also during the day on a Friday.  We felt the need to keep the audience to a focused group would help keep discussions moving along in a tidy manner as we have but a few hours to pass along a lot of information and Q&A.  ( which the way some senators are, will be tough enough).

I want to congratulate the folks that put this together.  I know that they would have liked to have a larger attendance, but it was not bad for a first time.  On the plus side I have heard from a couple folks that were there about how impressed they were with the information shared and the presenters that were brought in.  The information shared told these people how concerned we as a group are in safety and the economic impact we have on the state.  Great job guys, this is lobbying at it's finest.

i had a great time at the Legislative Education Summit.  i have already heard another is in the works.  the weather was really crappy, but the speakers where really good.  i know the Legislative reps and staff had a ton of fun.  i saw smiles all around and lots of pictures taken.  you know the word has already been spread online.  i see the next summit to be even better.

BIG Thanks to:

Legislative Reps and staff
Hornady
Phat Jacks
Scott @ American Reaper
