It is what it sez:

Cops get guns from Military, then lose them.   You can look it up!

To Mexico?
I suspect that they have wondered away to some place closer, like the homes of the cops who lost them?

I looked at the original story on this early last week. 184 agencies have been suspended from the program, including at least one in Nebraska. I couldn't figure out what agency that was.

Does anyone here know?

Stuff like this was relatively unheard of when I entered the career field as we had to furnish our own gear including sidearm and shotgun(if so desired). When your own hard earned Yankee dollars paid for something you tended to keep an eye on it.

Lose an issued piece of equipment and you just draw another one from the armory and go about your business. Yes the cost will be deducted from the paycheck a few dollars at a time, but that beats having to pay 200.00 in one shot to replace a personal firearm.

Hmm let's see diapers and baby formula or a new/used S&W 19 and a very pissed off spouse? I think I'll guard this one with my life.
