Yes sir, that is a GAU-8 Avenger. Delivering 4,200 rounds of Freedom per minute. They actually built the plane around the cannon. ;D

I am glad they decided to keep at least a few of the A-10 around.

They should really just turn them over to the Army and Marines considering.

Somewhere in one of my many storage boxes I have an empty 30mm casing from an A-10 mounted on a "thank you" plaque from the A-10 organization formerly stationed at Suwon Air Base, Korea. I spent 13 months doing engineering work to help prepare Suwon for the A-10's. A great plane with an awesome weapons system. I'm glad the congress critters put a stop to the Air Force fighter jock mafia's plans to retire it.
