Wow, those Muleys are awesome critters! Shot with a his own home built rifle to ice the cake. Excellent job all the way. 8)

While I was in college at Abilene, TX, the news paper had a story about the largest deer harvested in Taylor county. It included a photo showing the hunter standing, with his rifle in his left hand and holding a deer up in the air with his right hand. I've seen dogs that were bigger.  This was back I the mid 1960's and the region was in a drought.

That's funny.  It took two guys and a 12 year-old to get this one into the pickup bed.

.223 enough for big  mule deer?   Maybe..... with good bullet placement and the right bullet and load, certainly.

If the shooter can handle them, there are better choices.
